Printers Detected

Hello,
I noticed in GLPI that I have some 3000 printers for 200 computers, and it seems that OCSNG detects printers installed on the machine rather than 1 physical printer, so if 10 computers use the same printer it detects it 10 times. It also picks up non-physical printers such as PDF writers etc.
I assume I need to manage this in OCS, but for the individual computers the printer button is grayed out. Where would I go to set up a printer dictionary or something so I could tell it to ignore certain printers? OR is there a way to do this from GLPI? I'm sure I've just overlooked this somewhere.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Printers Detected

For my client, I tell us to manage printer manually (not by OCS) because OCS get driver name of printers and it's not very good (so many printers for A real physical printer).

I think you need to use Global import (rather Unit import) from OCS NG..

Re: Printers Detected

Thank you, but what do you mean by global import?
And to the first post, you mean that they manually delete and update the printers when imported from OCS? I suppose this is doable, because once i delete the unnecessary printers they wont be reinmported...

Re: Printers Detected

In Setup>OCSNG MOde > [your ocsng server] > Template for Printer Import - there are 3 options to import: No Import / Global Import / Unit import - I think global import is what you need (there is another thing: If you have several printers with the same name it will be imported as ONE printer for all associated with this printer name PCs - just clone it after that). As for the current printers - delete them (with purge) and synchronize data between OCSNG and GLPI.
Backup before!

Re: Printers Detected

I remember using that before (setup>OCSNG mode), but it isn't there anymore... I'm using V.72, has it moved in the new version or is this a bug since this isn't the final version?

Re: Printers Detected

Has anyone tested .72 with OCSNG yet?

Option still present in OCSNG setup option (Import options tabs)

Re: Printers Detected

That's strange then. Like I said, I have the tools>OCSNG and there is the import new computers, sync, etc. But I can't find these import options anymore, but I remember setting them up before. Maybe this is a bug? As if it doesn't think I have OCSNG setup yet?

I'd send you a screenshot if I could, should I report this to the bug tracker or is it something on my end?

Re: Printers Detected

Options are not in "Tools > OCSNG" but in "Setup / OCSNG"

Re: Printers Detected

I know, sorry I should have been more clear. I have tools>OCSNG. I do not have setup>OCSNG. For setup all that is present is dropdowns, components, document type, external links.

I updated to 72, it wasn't a fresh install. Don't know if that has anything to do with it?

Probably not enough right for the profile used.

You must be super-admin.
