OCSNG - Locked Fields - How/why does this happen?

Can someone explain how or why devices that are imported using OCSNG mode have locked fields?  Also, is there a way to query the glpi db directly to identify which computers have locked fields?  I seem to only be able to identify if a device has locked fields using the OCSNG tab under the device record.  I also get errors when trying to unlock all locked fields from the list and checking all.

GLPI - 0.83.8
OCS - 2.1.0rc1
