update must be applied on server hosting glpi? overwrite all files?

This is super condensed as the link and other posts have covered this...

Make sure your plugins will work with the new update
Download the update package
Unpack in the existing GLPI directory
Launch browser --> will check for permissions and update the db
re activate your plugins
