Add new Category in inventory

Hi Guys;
i need to add one or more category of device in to the inventory, for example table or , camera, or bracket... but i need to use all the other category like computer, pheripherals, phone ecc...
please Help Me.

Yes, I do have such problems.

Currently, GLPI have the following category:

1. Computers
2. Monitors
3. Software
4. Networks
5. Devices
6. Printers
7. Cartridges
8. Consumables
9. Phone

However, I have the following assets that I do not know which category that I should put them to:

1. Access Card & Keys (to a particular room / drawer / cabinet)
2. Audio Visual (such as Projector, TV, Camera)
3. Backup Devices (such as Tape Device)
4. Board (such as Xilinx Board)
5. Card Readers
6. Emulator (such as Renesas Emulator)
7. Furniture (such as computer table)
8. Notebook & Tablets
9. Office equipment (such as photocopier, fax machine)
10. PDA
11. Solar Panel
12. Measurement Devices (such as Hygrometer, Thermometer, Pyranometer, Multimeter, Oscilloscope)
13. CCTV System
14. Servers & Workstation (such as PowerBlade, MaxWorkstation)

I would appreciate if anyone can advise which GLPI category should I put my above asset into.

Strange.

I wonder if it would be better to create a new category of Inventory ~ or ~ trying to group assets into the current category of Inventory?

Anyone can advise?

Try to use generic object management plugin

I test generic object management plugin but its not thats what i need.
I need a new dropdown element.

Computers
Server
Monitors
Software
Networks
Devices
Printers
Cartridges
Consumables
Phone

I will create a new category of inventory such as Server.
is there a way do duplicate a category and rename it?

I was also wondering how to do that.

I tried the plugin - object management plugin but encounter error - as mention in http://www.glpi-project.org/forum/viewt … ?id=31995.

Wonder if it is possible to add feature that allow what Cedricb mention.

Also, I was just wondering if it is possible to edit the back-end code or database to add new category of inventory and how do one goes about doing it?

One Idea were to duplicate the categorie Computer but i can't test this on my system..
That was a nice feature in a new Version of GLPI

I list my servers under computers and then configure the type to be server.
Then I can sort of search by type.

As for your misc. items, I put my items like this under Devices. There is a type filed there too.

May not fit the bill perfect, but this is working for me.
