Upgrading from 0.72.4 to 0.83.8

Hi,

I am using GLPI 0.72.4 using the  mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.1.47. I would like to know if this version of MySQL is compatible with the latest GLPI 0.83.8 or do I also need to upgrade MySQL.

If MySQL upgrade is not necessary, please can someone list simplified steps to upgrade the GLPI. I referred to this link http://www.glpi-project.org/forum/viewt … p?id=31475 but the task seems daunting. Any help much appreciated.
