Using PHP to send mail notifications

Hi! I use a Linux system with XAMPP installed and GLPI running in. How can i configure the function 'PHP' to send notifications? Actually, the system send email notifications with 'SMTP' but, my system hangs a many times.
In the server,i found 'smtpemail' function in php.ini, but, i dunno how to configure.
Sorry for my bad english and thanks,

Re: Using PHP to send mail notifications

I don't know Xampp (mainly because I think this is something absolutely not useful on most Linux distro which already provides a LAMP stack)

But, setting mail to "PHP"  should be enough
And of course best practice is to have a local MTA.

Re: Using PHP to send mail notifications

Remi, thanks for reply. Only setting to 'PHP' does not resolved the problem. I tried this before, without success. I really need to know how to change the options in php.ini.
