A couple of questions from a brand new user

Hi,

I installed GLPI 0.80.1 for the very first time today, and so far, I'm vey happy with the packge, but, I do have a few questions...

1) Is there any way to record the serial number of computer components?

2) How can I show a message on the logon page?

3) Is there a way to deactivate/hide unused fields?

4) How can I add custom fields?

for number 1, all components have a comments field. You could put your serial number there.
for number 2, go to Setup -> general -> General Setup Tab.
for number 4, there is a plugin that allows you to do this.

I cant seem to find the notes field for components. There is a notes field which is specific to the component, but I need to record a different serial number for every component on every PC.

With regards to 4, I've installed a custom fields plugin but it doesn't seem to be compatible with the latest version 0.80.1. Is there a plugin which you know is compatible with this version?

I need to record a different serial number for every component on every PC.

Actually it's not possible. It would be in the future.

I am in the same situation where I will need to manage components individually and also be able to "add" them to a computer/device.

It does not appear possible with 0.83.2. I am curious if this is a feature that will be available soon?
