Set email check time

Hi,
I'am a newbie and i have configured an email gateway with courier IMAP server, and it works good.
Ho can I set how often GLPI checks inbox?

This is what I did:

Edit the file cron.class.php. Look for "taches["mailgate"]=600". That sets mail checking frequency to 600 seconds (10 minutes). I changed mine to 60 seconds.

Every time you do an upgrade, you'll have to make this change again. Maybe a future version will allow this to be set through the web interface and store the value in the database.

I am glad with using the project, i have some problems when i configure the notifications by email and the gateway of mail, i got this message:

"Fracaso en el envìo de mensaje de prueba al administrador"

and when i try to start the notificaciòn whit a new incident in the helpdesk i got an error message like says:
"Error en el envío del email
SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.
Error en el envío del email
SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host."

please i need to use it to notificated the personal of support and the people who use it.
Wath can i do?

buen dia a todos.
tengo una consulta llevo usando el glpi un tiempo, la monte en un centos 6.3 32 bits.. y me funciono. ahora quise migrar a centos 6.3 64 bits y no me funciona el glpi... no quiere bajar los mails. me da el siguiente error.. "Fracaso del envío de mensaje de prueba al administrador" favor si me puede ayudar.... de ante mano les agradezco!..!
