I Have managed to now install this software, but when i try and use the software it appears that i do not have super user rights, when i try and access some of the menus such as users , or any part of the administration menu all i get is a blank screen.
The software is installed on a linux shared hosting server, i do not know how to find out what kind of linux it is, the database is mysql but again i do not know how to find out what version this is, if anyone can offer how to find this information out you require i will do what is needed to provide the information
I have installed version glpi 0.71.5
I have looked at your demonstration and this is the software we wish to use , I will be happy to make a donation to the software in return for any moderator assistance in getting this software working on our website server. and will happily provide a link to where the software is installed for them to see what is happening
I thank anyone for their assistance i hope i have given more information than before
I await your reply in anticipation

GLPI needs Apache, Mysql, PHP environement (Linux or Windows)
A shared hosting server have usually Apache, Mysql, PHP
But to be sure that it could be ok, you need to verify that each version of Apache, Mysql, PHP are ok for GLPI.
We recommand : apache 2, mysql 5 , php 5
Settings for PHP5 are checked during the installation of GLPI so normaly if your setting are wrong GLPI would say it .
To know the version of the configuration you should ask to your hoster.
If you are boring with this things you have look to our partners : http://glpi-project.org/spip.php?article300

Thank you for saying how to find server informartion , we are end users and not very tecnical minded.
I have asked my server host what the settings are and they have said the following
apache 2, mysql 5 , php 4 by default (php5 is on server and is detected in your install tests , the tests said everything was ok.
when asked they said php5 has to be either prefixed i.e helpdesk.php5 instead of helpdesk.php
but said they would switch php5 to be default version if i asked them , they have done this and i have now rechecked the software and it all works i can now add users etc to the system .
so thank you for all your assistance we now hope to set up and use the system.
