Hi, guys.
I can't wait for the v0.72. I'm testing at home and wondering what will gonna happen when i install it on my work.
Today, we are using for the first time GLPI. It's v 0.71.5 and the database is full of information about ~500 computers, ~500 monitors, ~150printers, ~150 network devices, a lot of cartriges, consumables and peripherals.
When i installed GLPI, i had to edit some files to match my needs, like:
- full name instead of separated names(fullname and surname). My company LDAP(administrated by someone i don't know), is outdated and not everyone has lastnames typed, so i used the only information i had for everyone, the commonname. Then i had a field called name that i had no use. So i rename it to "job funcion" and imported that from ldap.
So you can imagine that i have some files hardly edited.
- design change to match the company's colors. That was easy, now i have a blue GLPI instead of the orange one. And company logos. Without removing the GLPI text from the footer, of course.
- external links extra options. I asked the GLPI dev guys to add GROUP as an option, but i edited the v0.71.5 and now, that does't matter, becouse i'll have that one on v0.72. Thank you, guys! In my company, we usualy need to generate forms, documents based on the GLPI information. Like transport documentation, responsability term, etc.
I'm still looking for a way to have components stock controlled inside GLPI. That will take some tome of me.
I wonder if GLPI will gonna have any "printable material" option someday. Like, forms, stickers, barcodes, etc without plugins. Some government companies, like mine, uses a lot of paper stuff to transfer from one department to another.
But i'm little worried about how i will upgrade the v0.71.5 that i have to v0.72. I have a database a lot messed up with deteled ids, empty ids, etc. That was the first time, so we made tests. What is the best option, upgrade using the installer or export the database for future importing? What about the diffent database fields from the versions if any?
I have a lot of thing to talk about this software, but i will slow down, i'm just excited about it. Just love it.
P.S.: You guys could improve the print system for the next release. When i print something, there is a lot of buttons and ugly stuff that could be removed with a simple "display:none" at the print version CSS. The "export to pdf" plugin prints looks awesome, you guys should take a look at it.

The best upgrade way :
- play the migration to 0.72RC1 on a test environment
- play with with the RC
- test, test, test, file bug, test, test
More return we have, quicker the version will be stable and published
Then
- full backup your database
- install the new stable version
- let the migration magic stuff append
For PDF plugin, there is a lot a work on it to adapt it to 0.72, make it more "maintainable", and extent to other object.

here it goes: http://programad.googlepages.com/styles.css
But i made an alternative logo, with transparent background to match the company logo.
And have replaced the backgrounds.
As soon as possible, will post a screenshot.
