Hello everyone
I'm new to GLPI and have been tasked by my company to look at the possibility of using GLPI within our infrastructure.
I've been testing for about a week now and have a few issues, mainly to do with the glpi-agent scanning.
I have the latest version of GLPI and the glpi-agent, all prereq modules and packages are installed.
I installed the glpi-inventory plugin configured an IP range, applied the snmp creds, adding 2 tasks - Network Discovery and SNMP Inventory and the Time Slots.
However, although the Discovery part would prepare, it would never run. I read a number of websites/postings and seen that some people have the same issue, with no resolution.
I was about to give up, then found out about the glpi toolbox GUI. So, I set the same stuff up on that, and its working, scanning every 2 hours by itself and adding Network Devices.
However, its not adding any Linux servers it finds, even though I've included the SNMP creds for them.
Doing some investigation, the reason its not adding them is due to the Rule that won't add a server if the Asset Name isn't present.
If I disable this Rule, it will add the devices by the display the name as the ID its been entered into the DB Table as, but nothing else, no O/S, Model, Network Port data etc.
I know that having the agent on the servers will send data back to GLPI, and we have that working for both Linux and Windows servers.
We want to know about servers that might be on our network that doesn't have the agent on, and maybe have these added to Unmanaged, so we can see them and get the agent on them.
So, my questions are;
1. Why isn't it picking up the Asset Name? If do a manual scan using the glpi-inventory command line tool it creates the XML files and has the DNSHOSTNAME and SNMPHOSTNAME in the XML file but injecting it doesn't display that name.
2. Is there a way to put any we find into the unmanaged category? This is secondary request, I guess the first thing is get them to be added with the name of the device.
Also on the subject of the GLPI Toolbox. It has an SSH option on the credentials screen, but only username/password. Is there a way to get it to use an SSH key?
Thanks for any help.
Sorry for the long topic, but I'm a newbie to GLPI.
