assign a device type based on the MAC address (ex. Phones)

We have a problem with inventorying phones, because they do not support SNMP.
Are there known MAC address proxies for this type of device (phones)
Is there a way in GLPI or any plugins to assign a device type based on the MAC address when detecting devices on the network?
