We sometimes receive MSG files from users sent to the ticket system by email.
If we create a ticket manually and add a MSG file, it is displayed identically. The situation is different with email imports. There are several problems here.
The MSG file attachment is sometimes converted into an EML file. This is then unusable.
For unknown reasons, the MSG is sometimes imported, but due to a change within the file, the display no longer works. German umlauts and special characters are displayed strangely.
Is it possible to set GLPI so that MSG files are saved exactly as they are sent?
Examples are: "&nbs=;" or "Datenschutzb=stimmungen" (correct Datenschutzbestimmungen)
We have been observing this error for many years, but in the meantime the requests are increasing and I am supposed to solve the problem.

You are trying to send GLPI an email with emails as attachments?
Which GLPI version are you using?

Yes, that is correct. An email with another email attached. My current GLPI version is 10.0.15.
The error does not occur if the MSG file is manually attached to a ticket. In this case, the file is saved unchanged and is also displayed correctly when opened.

You can open a bug report on the GitHub page for GLPI for this issue.

I am experiencing this issue with GLPI 10.0.15
.msg attachments are being converted to EML which were initially invalid util i added the document type. however EML is not a desired format we would prefer the original attachment format. has a solution been found?

Hello noobITguy. There is currently no solution. However, I was able to find out that the problem is exclusively in Microsoft Outlook. The cause seems to be that the EML file is the line endings with Linux characters and not the typical Windows “\r\n” line endings. If you convert the EML file e.g. in Notepad++, then it is displayed correctly in Outlook.
Unfortunately, this is not yet a solution, but perhaps other users can confirm this. Of course, it would be better if the MSG file was not converted at all.
