Entitie mode change

HI community,

cant find anything to this topic so far:

I dont know why but my prod. system seems to by a single-entity mode one. In the upper right selector is only the root unit and i cant add child entities. I tested this with a new installation. The newone starts in multi-entitymode so maybe i have somehow disabled multimode on the productive one.

Any one here that can point me in the right direction where to switch back to multi entity mode? Am i just to dumb to find it?

Thank you!

Re: Entitie mode change

There is no switch for this. Multi-entity mode is just determined by GLPI itself depending on if you have one or more entities created.

Re: Entitie mode change

What is the current Profile and the associated permissions you have on the current (presumably) root instance?

Re: Entitie mode change

I am logged in as Super-Admin with full access to Administration/Entites... As i said at the moment i only have the root instance/entitiy and cant add childs.

Maybe this is a better explanation (a few pictures): drive.google.com/drive/folders/1XtYUiX3la_VhO0_xbIaQ6Xzbqfbco27N?usp=drive_link

Re: Entitie mode change

Even though you only have one entity at the moment, you still need to have your profile assigned with recursive access on that entity and be connected to that entity recursively in order to create new entities.
Under your profile assignments, does Super-Admin have a "R" flag listed indicating it applies to the entity and all potential children?
In the top-right user menu, select the name of the current entity to open the entity selector. Then, click the double-down arrow next to the Root Entity to connect to it recursively.

Re: Entitie mode change

Thats it!

Thank you very much, your help is, was and will be very appreciated. It seems so that even when i add ad-users as super-admins they dont have the recursively/R by default. This was only true for the orginal glpi account.

This means that i (theor.) can grant super-admin to users in child-entities/departments (and they can mess up there own helpdesk ;-)

As i said, thank you, topic can be closed

Not quite. If you are talking about the default Super-Admin profile, there are some permissions that are global and not per-entity. For example, the "Setup" permission is global and lets them change stuff under Setup > General as well as some other things. I would suggest making a new profile with the Standard Interface and only granting the permissions you want them to have in their child-entities.

Maybe not an exhaustive list of global permissions (not restricted by entity):

Administration tab:
- Entities
- Groups
- Profiles
- Notification Queue
- Historical
- System logs
- All "Inventory" permissions (related to collection of data from GLPI agent)
- Multiple Rules, Dictionaries and Entity Transfer permissions

Setup tab:
- Setup
- Global dropdowns
