UID is username and unchangeable?

Is this still true? Is ___this post is spam___ still an abnormality and UIDs are not handled as separate entries? '^_^
I found a few discussions dating back to 2010 where this was confirmed.
Mass selecting tickets is a small task, but having to switch a dozen entries from hardware to plugin-entries is a nice source of error.
