Trying to edit Asset import rule, unable to get it working.

Hi.

Im struggling to edit import rule for Monitor assets, in such way that only DELL models of monitors will be imported.
Editing the default rules Monitor update (by serial) and Monitor import (by serial), Ive simply added new criteria that the asset model needs to contain "DELL".
However, this doesn't work, and I can't figure out why. I've also edit Monitor import denied rule with asset model does not contain "DELL".

ibb.co/N3mVdm9

My goal is to only import, and update DELL monitors we use in our offices, and to not import monitors of users working from home. I am aware this would still import users personal DELL monitors but that would be a separate thing to solve.

Could someone point me to specific documentation for this or did anyone else had issues with import rules and was able to make them work?

Thanks in advance

/edit: I wanna add that I tested the rules in the rules engine and there it works correctly, so I dont understand where is the problem. Cant find anything in logs either

Has anyone managed to successfully edit and have the import rules working to their liking?

Re: Trying to edit Asset import rule, unable to get it working.

Hi jan_t,

it seems models or manufacturers as criteria is not working for monitors. I guess you should open an issue for that on GLPI github.

I was only able to achieve such kind of filtering using monitor name which must contains "ASUS" as rule. I don't know if this can be applied on your case. Also I preferred to not modify the default rules but add a import denied rule before the default. In my case, the first rule is so deny import if ASUS is not in the name. Here you also can use a regexp saying import must be denied if the name is not in a list, for example if you want the name to contains ASUS or DELL, you can use /ASUS|DELL/ as regexp. This way you can also list all the supported name if the name doesn't contain DELL.

Re: Trying to edit Asset import rule, unable to get it working.

Hi gbougard,
thanks for reply and you're right it's better to leave the default rules and make my own.
I will try your suggestions.
However, I don't have Github account, is there any other way to report this issue?
Thanks

Hi jan_t,

if you have a GLPI subscription, you can directly open a ticket on the support or contact a partner. Otherwise, creating a github account is just free.
