DNS info via agent

When registering a server via an agent, an asset gets created but with the short hostname. Is there a way to either use the fqdn or somehow track the dns-info from the host?
Currently I can issues arise if I monitor 2 environments (prod/preprod) that have the same short hostnames but different domains ...
