ocsng mode setup settings help

Hi,

I am evaluating GLPI for my IT department for our small business and so far I am impressed that so many features are free.  We really need something like this, it would really help us get organized and so I am really interested in getting it working properly.  I need a little help getting it setup properly.   I managed to get it installed thanks to the easy installation but now that I am trying to use it I am confused if I have the OCSNG Mode setup properly.  OCS is able to capture my inventory, and I am able to manually import from ocsng.   Can somebody who has this working properly please confirm my settings:

OCS Inventory Ver. 4100
GLPI 0.70.1
Ubuntu 2.6.22-14-server
php5, apache2

Re: ocsng mode setup settings help

I would like for GLPI to import the hardware/software inventory from OCS.  It is currently doing that, but I am not sure if my settings are correct.  I would like to avoid having duplicate records.  I would like to import all hardware/software inventory.  Can you recommend a basic configuration for me please?

Re: ocsng mode setup settings help

For the screen 1:
if you have multiple monitors of the same model, you will see only one monitor, attached to differents computers. It could be a problem if you want to do inventory of your stock.
For printers idem, but if you use a unique name for your printers I think it's better. A printer with name printer1 can be attached to one or more computer
I have only the printers which are set to "global import". But this depends of your organization

Re: ocsng mode setup settings help

I see, I am starting to understand how global and unit settings work.  What is the best way to reset the system?  I have been doing some testing and I want to reset the system back to the beginning.  Maybe I am doing this wrong but I am going to computers and deleting the computers and then purging, each category under inventory and deleting all records (monitors/software/devices/printers..etc).  Also I am going to administration/groups and deleting the records.  Is this the best way?  Also what is the purpose of administration /groups and how do I use this properly?

Re: ocsng mode setup settings help

Is there a way to DeDupe the Printer records AFTER you've done the foolish thing and imported them as Units... (I ahve about 200 Printers for one client of 30 users.... according to GLPI).

Suspec the same is true for Software...
