SMNP with fusioninventory, how ?

Hi there

Use glpi with fusioninventory and would like to activate the SNMP service.
Unfortunately I am not so smart from all the instructions, does an extra client have to do this or can the web server do it itself?
What needs to be installed with this client?

Thanks for any tips, also in German.

Hallo

Tom

Hello.

What do you really have a problem with and what do you want to get?
Do you mean that you want e.g. to inventory printers after snmp but don't know how?

Re: SMNP with fusioninventory, how ?

Now I have several questions:
What should be set for smnp 1 and 2 on the respective devices.
Do you need an EXTRA client where they run smnp services?

In the meantime I do it with an extra client, a few devices are already coming in. But suspect that some are blocked in the network components.

Forum gibt :-(

Re: SMNP with fusioninventory, how ?

On the example of the network printer (192.168.100.12).

1. Logging in to the printer > looking for SNMP settings > I set a community name for SNMPv1 e.g: myCommunityName1
2. Administration > FusionInventory > Networking > SNMP credentials > Add (plus) > set name, version as 1 and community name myCommunityName1 (without user nad passwords - this is for SNMPv3).
3. Administration > FusionInventory > Networking > IP Ranges > Add > ... I think you know what you should set here smile
4. When you add the IP range, enter this range and at the "Associated SNMP credentials" tab associate what you set at the point 2.
5. Administration > FusionInventory > Tasks > discovery task for this IP range.
6. Administration > FusionInventory > Tasks > inventory task for this IP range.

First you need to discover the device. Once you have them detected and added fo GLPI, the inventory task starts running (according to the schedule, or after force activation).

Any question? smile

Hallo Vtom,

I also have a problem. I can't integrate network printers (GLPI 9.5.4 + FusionInventory 2.6 + latest version plugin). Earlier versions didn't work either, and I don't understand why. If I run FusionInventory on that printer from the command line, I get the XML, but I want to read its data automatically.
