Internal Device Management

I'm new to GLPI and I'm trying to find the Internal Device Management section. I've gone into Administration -> Setup but the link doesn't show up. Is there something I'm missing?

Re: Internal Device Management

Are you talking about "Components"?  Hard drives, memory, cards, etc???

Re: Internal Device Management

I was reading the help pages because I need to add the field "IP Address" to the "Computer" template in the Inventory section. I found the following information the help pages:

c) Internal devices management

Since GLPI 0.5, the internal device concept has appeared. It enables you to add as many equipment as necessary in a computer.

You can manage the list of the internal devices of your park in section : Administration / Setup / Internal devices

For some types of internal devices you can specify a specific characteristic (For example : Hard disk capacity).

Any removal or addition of an internal device will be automatically consigned in historical.

I don't know if this will help facilitate my goal but I would still like to be able to explore the "Internal Devices Management" section which doesn't appear where the help pages have indicated. So I was wondering if I was missing a setting or didn't set something up correctly.

Re: Internal Device Management

If I understand you correctly, you are trying to associate an IP to a device.  I think you do this on the computer under the "connections" tab.  At the bottom you should see the option for "Add networking port...".

If you are trying to add items withing the server/computer box like a number of hard drives, a graphics card, or a nic, you need to first set up the types of components you are able to add under "Administration" | "Setup" | "Components".    Once you have your components entered in, you ca go back the the computer and add them under the "Main" tab of a computer.

Does that help?   Am I missing what you are looking for?
