Hello GLPI Forum,
I had moved to this Assset management system after trying to find one with LDAP integration and liked what I saw.
My issue is how to restict the View of assets to per user.
So if I have a Self-Service type user with the full interface with Read ability on Assets (computers and monitors) how can I apply a permanent filter to restrict items by username.
I only want to show the logged in user what is currently assigned to them.
I do not require any access to tickets or anything else, just assets.
Has anyone come up with a solution to this?
Thank you all in advance.

Go to profile and in the Assets tab, select Link with items for the creation of tickets as My devices .
The user field in the Inventory list should be updated accordingly. So the user with this profile can only see the assigned items.
Hope this can resolve your problem.

I did a trial with the ticket system to assign the hardware.
Would there be another way to add a permanent query to the assets page to link back to the user=$username
I'm not too familiar on the macros (if available) for GLPI.
We already use a ticketing stsem for IT related service desk and merely want to filter the result by username but at the same time prevent UserA fro seeing User B's assets.

If you want to show all items, select all items in the profile settings instead of mydevices. So it will show all items .
I dont know whether there is any method to do this. So wait for an experts advice

Hi there,
i'm using GLPI 9.1.2 and i'm trying to restrict views to assigned assets with no success.
My hope is to allow users to see only assigned assets on certain entities.
I have created a profile with only read permissions but i can't apply any filter in order to restrict items by user field.
Is there a way to fix this problem?
Thank you in advance

You will can do that in a plugin with next version of GLPI (9.1.5).
I think i will put this in the behaviors plugins. But i must wait 9.1.5 release
CentOS 6.5 - CentOS 7.x
PHP 5.6 - PHP 7.x - MySQL 5.6 - MariaDB 10.2 + APC + oOPcache
GLPI from 0.72 to dev version

Hi yllen,
I saw that GLPI version 9.1.5 was released.
I have tried to install version 1.4 of behaviors plugin but i still cannot allow users to see only assigned assets on certain entities.
Could you let me know something about that feature?
Thank you,
Best regards

Hi yllen,
i have tried with a GLPI version 9.1.6 and behaviours plugin version 1.5.0 but i can't understand if i'm wrong.
I have two entities, Root > A and Root > B.
I have two users, userA, Tech of Root > A, and userB, Tech of Root > B.
I have set true "see my asset" and "see asset of my groups".
So, i have two PCs in Root > A, one assigned to userA and the other to userB.
From user B i can't see anything on Root > A. If i grant Read-Only profile to userB on Root > A he can see all the PCs.
Can you help me if i'm wrong?
Thank you very much,
Best Regard

First you must have right to Read on computer.
After, in your computer form you must have field User (see my asset) or Group (see asset of my groups) defined.
CentOS 6.5 - CentOS 7.x
PHP 5.6 - PHP 7.x - MySQL 5.6 - MariaDB 10.2 + APC + oOPcache
GLPI from 0.72 to dev version

I'm sorry to disturb you again,
it is exactly what i have done but it seems not work: the software does not filter and so userB can also see PCs of other users.

This option is for simple user, not for technician.
So if you can update an asset, this restriction is not applied
CentOS 6.5 - CentOS 7.x
PHP 5.6 - PHP 7.x - MySQL 5.6 - MariaDB 10.2 + APC + oOPcache
GLPI from 0.72 to dev version

Ok..
I was actually hoping that a user might have technicial profile on a certain Entity and might have a readonly profile on another Entity with filter applied to his assets for that Entity.
