spam in forums
A suggestion to stop most of it.
Set all new users as "moderated" until they have made one posting. If that's on-topic then switch them to full access.
Doing this stops most spammers.
It may seem like "extra work" but admins who've switched to this model generally report it's less effort than cleaning up after a spam attack.
