I can't seem to install a plugin anymore, last time I did one was a few years ago.
I have downloaded the plugin, copied it to the plugins folder, untared it, chmod/chown .
But in glpi > setup > plugins
only my old plugin is listed.

delete all your old plugins in Plugins directory before download the newer.
Be careful of the version of the plugin (must be compatible with version of GLPI)
After in Setup > Plugins you must Install each plugin and activate it
