Question about the Duration & Contract Renewal Period

Hi,

I've a question with the contract settings. For example, a contract with following date show that the notification mail will be sent out on 2010-07-23. But I have few questions would like to ask. Please refer to following questions.

1) Since its duration was set to 12 months, will it automatically send out the reminder again on 2011-07-23 and 2012-07-23? If yes, is the following settings correct?
2) What is Contract Renewal Period? Or it's just an info/data and have not effect on the contract?
3) Is there another "reminder" to tell me that the contract will be expire on 2012-08-23?

Start Date : 2009-08-23
Duration : 12 month -> 2010-08-23
Contract Renewal Period : 36 month
Notice : 1 month -> 2010-07-23
Email Alarms : End + Notice

That's how I do it (But this doesn't mean is absolutely right :-)

This would be my set up:
Start Date : 2011-08-23
Initial contract period : 12 month -> 2011-08-23
Contract renewal period : 12 month (I know, it should be months, but let's stick to the actual interface :-) )
Notice: 1 month

So, when I get a notice reminder e-mail (2011-07-23), I will decide if we go on with the contract. If we agree to go on, I manually set Initial contract period to 24 month(s), and won't receive an expire reminder e-mail, because now my end contact date is set to 2013-08-23.

Since I've set renewal up to Tacit, I would expect Initial contract period to update by itself, but is not working that way for me.

That's a manuall way to solve this and I do it the same way atm. I just wondered how the automatic tacit way works.

Let's wait for a moderator answer, but just in case, you could add it as a new feature (or bug ). I'll do it but I haven't found a way. Forge's plain users can't do anything!

Another try to get a knowing person to explain the correct/intended usage of 'start date'/'renewal'/notifications.

I'm still curious about this. Sorry for pushing this thread up again, but to understand this is critical to take full advantage of the contracts management.
