Asset tracking non networked devices

Hello, I am looking for help on importing non-networked devices. GLPI 0.78.3 Ubuntu 8.4 OCSNG 1.02 RC3.
I would like to use GLPI to track multiple similar devices, eg RJ45 Couplers and assign them to a location for tracking, what is the best way to do this?
I am familiar with Datainjection plugin but I dont want multiple instances in Devices.
Is it best to assign a device to a location or to an entity.

I would also like to be able to insert our network points to link our PC's with the Discovered port on the switch like this
                        PC_52_Lenovo>Network port 12/234<Cisco c2609G Gi0/13
