Building & syncing to a backup database

I am trying to setup an exact offsite copy of the GLPI database and application. After exporting an .sql file from my existing database (logged in as 'glpi'), I imported the .sql file into a brand new GLPI database. Once I did that...I could no longer log into the new GLPI database using the 'glpi' user-id. What am I doing wrong? Help please.
