This is similar to another post I've made on this board (Networking parent/child relationship). I'm looking to link model #s with manufacturers. For example, when you add a new network item to the database and select it's "Manufacturer" from the dropdown list, is it possible for the "Model" list to only display models associated with the manufacturer? For example, if I select Cisco as the manufacturer, I'd like the model list to only display models that Cisco make (3550, 6509, etc) and not see the list of other manufacturers model #s I've entered in.
Is this possible? I'm about to enter thousands of inventory records for network devices, so I'd sooner know now before we start work on the inventory.

At today version GLPI continues without the feature of link model to manufacturer only?

How come it is not yet implemented ??
There's ton of requests asking for this feature, as old as 2010, and yet, model and manufacturer are still separated.
I would understand a "we working on it" or at least a "well, we don't think it's a good idea because XXX", but a "it's not possible" is ridiculous.
What's the point of having Macbooks, Thinkpads and Latitudes in the Model dropdown if "HP" is selected as manufacturer ?
Maybe I'm missing the point, and I'd be pleased to be enlightened, but I can't seem to find a reason not to link models with manufacturers.
