Adding links to other application to navigation

First of all let me say that I love GLPI. I am trying to use it as the main portal for our IT staff but for this to work I need to be able to add links to other applications on the navigation menu.

Basically what I want to do is to add links to the Tools section of the nav bar so when you mouseover you'll see the link to the website of the app.

Is this possible? I have a good idea on how to do it but I can't find the right file to modify. If I login to GLPI and look at the source I can see where the menu is configured but I can't find the actual file that I need to change on my server.
