smtp error could not authenticate --> version 0.83.4

Hello i have a problem to configurate the notifications
the test email in not ok
the configuration i use and smtp server with an acount an password
i need to configurated the gateway to? i cofigurate it like this: introduce the ip of the server and in the parto that says conecction option i don't put nothing.
but the notification don`t work i have an error that says "smtp error could not authenticate."
what can i do?

if your server is with an account and a password, you must put them in connection options
