Are you using the GLPI Agent to get the printer cartridge levels?

The "cartridge" automatic action is to alert you when stock of certain cartridge models falls below a threshold.

Assets > Cartridges is supposed to be empty. These are the physical cartridges rather than the counters from inventory scans.

You can add cartridges from Assets > Cartridges. First by adding a "model" (which is just labelled as cartridge) and then adding stock to it.
