Template creation and blocking

We are using Templates in each of the inventory items (Computers, Printers, Monitors, Etc.) to display a form for entering a new item in the inventory.  The form auto-increments the Inventory Number by one for each new piece of equipment entered and we fill in the rest of the blanks.  The problem is:  there seems to be no way to block or disable the "Blank Template" and only display the template I want my technicians to use.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Not possible without modifying the source code.
