Merge as Followups takes too much time

Has someone noticed that merging two tickets, one as a follow up takes an insame amount of time while searching for the original ticket?

We have around 50k tickets on Database and when searching the "main" ticket it takes like 2 or 3 minutes. We're searching by ticket number.

Does anyone know anyway to filter the query being run against the database so that it only search for open tickets for example ?
