Assigning consumables to an asset

Hello,

We need a system capable to manage the inventory of our spare parts: hard drives, ssd, power supplies, spare memory, etc.

It seems that GLPI is capable of doing this but at the moment it seems a little overkill. Under the Assets option I see many things but I can't find a place to store "spare parts". I tried "consumables" but it lacks a serial number field for example. What is the GLPI best practice to catalog spare parts.

Eg- Let's say I purchase 6 hard drives of a particular model, I want to keep track of the supplier, model, serial of each drive and then whenever I use it I want to know where it was used and can track its full lifetime and i need to have a full fledge inventory of these consumables.
