Step-by-step SNMP printers inventory | GLPI 10 / Agent 1.4 / ToolBox

All, hi.
We are evaluating the implementation of a POC on GLPI.

In addition to obtaining information on the workstations on which the agent is installed (which work as expected), we would like some of them to collect data on the printers available on the network using the SNMP protocol.

The configuration on which we are carrying out the tests (and which we would like to keep avoiding plugins) consists of GLPI 10.0.6 with GLPI Agent 1.4 on which the ToolBox interface has been enabled.

On the ToolBox interface we can obtain the information relating to a printer queried via the SNMP protocol, and all the information is also collected via the commandline.

However, we cannot figure out how to make the IP range set in the ToolBox interface be queried by the agent and the collected information sent to the server.

Is anyone able to provide us with step-by-step directions to get this result?

Thanks in advance!

Hello z26ds6k8,

actually the ToolBox interface only store XML locally. In the agent installation folder, you should find a netinventory folder. You can use the glpi-injector script with the recursive option on that folder to upload them to your GLPI.

For your information, I'm working on a ToolBox improvement which will permit you to create tasks and choose where the information should be sent (locally or to your GLPI). This feature should be included in next version but I don't have any planned date for the release at that time.

Thanks, gbougard...
We'll do some checking and I'll get back to you to update you...
Waiting for the Toolbox feature to acquire the planned improvements as soon as possible!
Kind regards!

You should also notice you can still use GlpiInventory plugin to create the netdiscovery & netinventory tasks.

Thanks, gbougard...
We did some checking with netinventory and injector and collected information were sent to the server...
It's an option and we did the same for NAS...

In this case, we have the option to get the MIB file from QNAP NAS...
How the MIB file could be used by netinventory and injector to get more than the basic information from the asset?
Kind regards!

We trying to configure GLPI 10 using less plugins possible, as I understand eventualy GlpiInventory plugin is for backward compatibility and funcions from glpi 9.5 and fusioninventory and in the future will be obsolete? will be integrated in core and glpi-agent?
we trying to automate some inventory stuff but we trying to avoid redo the mechanics in the near future, we know this is a big change in glpi 10 and probabbly will be fine tuning in next versions, will this be the new path?
