GLPI Agent - switchports missing in one system but not the other

Really strage issue. The system is in production and cannot be reinstalled.

I have an XML file from a switch

If I import it (front/inventory.conf.php)  to the production system it adds the switch (updates the existing) but the network ports are missing. If I import it to another system (test server almost fresh installed) it imports it fine.
If I delete the ports the are readded but this does not happen for the production system. Any ideas?

No idea why. Anyone a clue what settings are relevant for that?
