Priority calculation on bulk update

I have observed this in both 0.80.4 and 0.83-RC2 and cannot find any information on the forum or in bug track.  When I select multiple tickets and update the Impact, the Priority does not calculate.  However, changing it in the individual tickets does cause recalculation.

Is this by design?
