Custom assets with custom fields

Hello,
I want to create some custom assets with custom fields. I tried to achieve this result by using Fields and Objects management plugins but I can't.
There is a problem with assignment my custom fields to custom objects - no option to do this. Maybe I am doing something wrong.
For example I want to create asset called 'Disks' and assign to this asset fields like Part Number, FRU Number etc...
Can someone provide some info how to achieve desired result?

Re: Custom assets with custom fields

When you create a custom asset type, you do not need to use the Field plugin.
You can declare all the fields you need in the new asset type.

The Field plugin is made to add custom fields to existing asset types. :-)

I know this may sound confusing, trust me, I've been there.

Re: Custom assets with custom fields

Thanks for your reply smile

When I am trying to create new asset I have only a few fields to assign to this asset.
Screenshot below.

my_asset

But I want to create some new fields to this asset as I said in my first post. How can I do this?

@EDIT: Screenshot not loading so I put url below

Re: Custom assets with custom fields

I just had a look on what I did here.
I'm positive I created additional "non standard" fields in the generic object plugin.
Honestly, I don't remember how I did it sad

But that the path to stay on. You could achieve what you want with only the custom object plugin.

I find my custom object fields in the DropDown menu but I don't remember how I put them there...

OK, I get it. You didn't read the documentation, didn't you? :-)

Re: Custom assets with custom fields

Hi! I have the same issue. How can you edit the file to add a new field type when you are using the hosted GLPI version?  Thanks!
