Groups of users and/or items

Is there any way to group:

1. Items (computers, devices, etc) so that tracking or mass changes can happen to the entire group?

2. Users of any level of access (post-only,normal,admin) so that each group can have the corresponding access to a group (and/or subgroups) of items? I am talking of groups of responsible people for a group of items. We are a group of companies that each has a technical team that should have access to only a subset of items that they are only responsible for. Setup section should be common to all. And certain group of people (eg Admins) may have access to all items.

If this is not (or will not be) implemented then can I change the software so that the setup section will connect to another database? Is this easy to do?

Not yet but it will be done in the 0.7.

Is the new version comming soon?

what about the last solution above? could I connect parts of the software to different databases in an easy way?

the next version will be the 0.65 not the 0.7.

If you will to have separated GLPI you must install once by group of people
