Additional Hardware Types?

In Central -> Assistance -> Helpdesk (post-only) there is an entry for "Hardware Type" .  I think this is to assist the user in finding the equipment that is giving the problem.

How do I make new hardware types, and the lists that go with them?  For example, I will like to add:

Hardware  Type         Members of List
RTU                              UNIT1,UNIT2,UNIT4,NORTHUNIT,METHANE,  and so forth
PLC                              <list of PLC names, or even a heirarchy>
CONTROLLER          <list of controller designations>
TRANSDUCER         <list of transducer names>
TRANSMITTER         <list of data transmitters>

and so forth.

I was thinking this was the purpose of the Generic Object plugin, but entries in that don't show up in the Hardware Type dropdown.  Plus I read in the news that the Generic Object is going away in the .80 rev, so I don't want to put too much into it.

Otherwise it looks like the lists are hardcoded in.  Is that correct?  Or am I missing something?
