LDAP Groups and Users

I have connected GLPI to our LDAP server (Open Directory) to import users and groups.  I am able to import both, but have a question regarding Groups.  When importing an LDAP group, should GLPI automatically assign users (who were previously imported) to that group?  This is not happening so far, and I am wondering if I am doing something wrong, or if this is not currently a function of the program.
