Catégorie - double drop-downs

Hello,
We have a big list on the drop-down "Catégorie", with sub-levels, ex:

SOFTWARE
- Maintenance
- Installation
HARDWARE
- Configuration
- Purchase
etc...

Anybody knows how to divide this list in two separated drop-downs, with automatic reload?
What I mean is to select the "Catégorie" in two steps:
1. Select the main category (drop down with SOFTWARE / HARDWARE)
2. Depending on the selection above, it automatically populates with the corresponding sub-category
