Using GLPI 0.7, I was able to authenticate users with eDirectory using LDAP.
1. Click Setup..Authentication
2. On LDAP tab, select "+" to Add a new connection.
3. Name your connection, and put in the IP address of your LDAP server.
4. basedn is of the form ou=<organization unit>,o=<organization>
5. put in a username and password if authentication is required, for anonymous bind, leave them blank.
6. login field should be uid.
7. Search type = In Users, Use DN in the search = yes
7. Surname = sn, First Name = givenName, phone = telephonenumber, email = mail

could you put your whole configutation, because I may add a pre-configuration model for eDirectiory in the configuration
Offline

These are the setting I'm using, although I've obscured the internal IP address of our LDAP server.

Use TLS = No
How LDAP aliases should be handled = Never dereferenced (default)
Search Type = In Users
