suggestions for network representaion in GLPI

We have a moderate sized network in our building with labeled drops, cables and switches. It really is not clear how I should show this in GLPI.

How would you organize this in GLPI?
computer <-> drop/patch panel <-> labeled patch cable <-> switch

We'd like to have a room number associated with the drop/patch panel. In order to do so, it looks like I'd need to make an individual network device for each drop. Then I could add a port for each side. One connects to the computer, and the other connects to the cable. Then each cable device might need two network ports as well. This could get out of hand.

I know that our network labeling system is common. How have you done this?

Thank you.

Re: suggestions for network representaion in GLPI

I've figured out network points now. I will manually add the drops into glpi_dropdown_netpoint with references to locations in glpi_dropdown_locations. That will work for the drop/patch panel, but the cable number is still missing in this representation.

What would you recommend?
