Technician in charge as a group

I am looking for a way to assign an LDAP group to the technician in charge field.  I need this in order to send pages/emails out to the appropriate on-call person for a team through our notification software.  It contains group names and then knows which real person is on-call for that group.  Is there a way to change this field to look in groups instead of users?  Thanks.

Re: Technician in charge as a group

Is there another way to handle this?  I need a way to assign a group to be responsible for the administration of an asset instead of a user.  Thanks.

Re: Technician in charge as a group

Can this be added as a feature request?  We have groups that maintain systems, not just one person.  Thanks.

Re: Technician in charge as a group

I don't understand, if you have group that maintains system why do you not use group for that instead of insisting to use responsible ?

Re: Technician in charge as a group

I thought the group field was used to denote the group that used the system, not the group responisble for the system.  I used the group field to denote the group responsible for maintaining the system to tie into our alerting tool, but it would be nice to have a way to specify groups and/or users of the system as well.  Maybe that will all come with the ITIL additions in 0.75+.  Thanks.
