I want the ability to manually add a computer record in GLPI so some of the information can be recorded before the PC reports in. Once the PC reports in, I want it to automatically syncronize with the record that I previously added manually.
I've been playing around with this, but what happens is it imports the automated record from OCS as a new record, so I end up with 2 records with the same PC name. When I manually create a record, I noticed that the "Auto update OCSNG" option is not listed as an option for that one record.
Has anyone run into this before? Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I thought I noticed a Synchronize section in the inventory somewhere. Maybe that is what you are looking for?

I've tried doing the syncronize by checking the record and clicking the syncronize field, but that still does not syncronize that record.
Any other suggestions?

If you use manual import (Tools / OCSNG menu)
Use the "Link new OCS computers to existing GLPI computers" option
If you use automatic import (internal cron or mass_ocs_import plugin)
Configure the "Automatic connection of machines"

My current settings:
Automatic connection of machines
Activatate the Automatic Link: Yes
Existence criteria of a computer
IP: No
Mac Address: No
Name of computer: Yes : equal
Serial Number: Yes
With these settings, should GLPI automatically replace duplicates?

Not exactly.
- duplicate must be handle in OCS
- this settings only link the NEW machine (from OCS) to one which has never be linked in GLPI.

Ok, so if I create a machine in GLPI, then OCS imports another one automatically into GLPI with the same name and serial number, how do I merge the 2 duplicates in GLPI?

Ooops, never mind. I read your reply again after posting my reply and it made sense. So I can use the "Link new OCS computers to existing GLPI computers" option and this works fine to replace a duplicate.
Thank you very much for your assistance.
