Problem with mail gateways

Hi,
I'm new using GLPI (under CentOS 5.2), and I'm trying to integrate it with some other tools (like Nagios, Splunk and so on) that send alerts through the linux local mail system (helpdesk@localhost).
How can I configure GLPI to fetch mails from that local account.

EDIT: I'm asking about a functionality like the one on OneOrZero, that reads local server mails and adds it as tasks. Thanks again

You can't retrieve local mail (movemail)

You need a POP3 or IMAP server.

But you can enable POP3/IMAP on localhost.

Where can I find a tutorial on how to set up a POP3/IMAP server with localhost accounts ? I've been googleing but i didn't find anything useful.
