DB Migration from MySQL (Linux) to MySQL (Windows)

Hi

I made a backup from our glpi 9.1 and imported it to our new MySQL Database (glpi 9.1 already installed). When I connect to glpi I don't have any data from the backup. Do I miss something?

thx for help

Is there a tutorial how to migrate DB? Whats the different in sql backup and xml backup? sql backup is 1.3mb and xml backup is 300mb. Downloading xml backup crashes the browser though.

Re: DB Migration from MySQL (Linux) to MySQL (Windows)

Hello ict,
how do you create your database backup?
Sometimes I had some problems with dumps created by glpi webinterface.
So I decide to make my dumps with a cronjob (or manualy) and mysqldump, copy the created *.sql to the new glpi/files/_dumps and restore in most cases with webinterface of glpi. That works for me.

But generaly: Of course its your decision. why a windows sql Server ?  wink

Re: DB Migration from MySQL (Linux) to MySQL (Windows)

Hi Langundo

I could do now a backup directly from debian machine (after 2 hours work). Looks like the dumps created via webinterface are not working.

We want to change do Windows, because we are not good in Linux. Windows is for me a lot easier to manage. Luckly I found a nice tutorial here wink
