This has been reported in the past on 0.83 but seemed to correct itself after a few days for that user. (http://www.glpi-project.org/forum/viewt … action=new)
I am seeing the exact same symptoms
The uploaded image displayed ok in locations documentation view.
GLPI won't use it in the map under plugin/cartography/{area} "See the Map".
The uploaded image only appears when "Add sub-area" is selected.
Adding sub areas and stepping back to the main view, the image is still blank, but the label tags for the added area are all jammed up in the top left hand corner of the screen - and the X/Y coordinates are all negative numbers.
I think this is an origin point issue, but how do I specify the origin point of the master entity? Clicking on "change the coordinates" does nothing.

*bump*
Anybody? I'm still seeing this in 0.84.6 and I would like to try and solve it.

Ok, I have a "kind of" solution - but it's a bug in positions.
The map image _only_ displays if the URL you are accessing glpi with exactly matches http://{server}/glpi/front/config.form.php - general setup tab - "URL of the application"
IE: if that is http://foobar.example.org/glpi
Then : accessing http://foobar.example.org/glpi/plugins/ … nt/map.php works properly
http://foobar/glpi/plugins/positions/front/map.php DOES NOT work
http://localhost/glpi/plugins/postions/front/map.php DOES NOT work
http://192.168.0.1/glpi/plugins/positions/front/map.php DOES NOT work
This is frustrating, as I'm using a ssh tunnel to access the server a lot of the time and it's http://localhost:90000/glpi for me, whilst it's the full or shortened URL for people inside the workplace.
I believe it is a bug which should be fixed.

Anything new on it?
Also not seeing the image (except when creating sub entities)
