Dear all,
as far as I understand, we can either have the GLPI server automatically inventorize the hosts somehow (but I am not sure how, as I failed to find any proper documentation on that) or we can install the FusionInventory Agent on the host, which then pushes the information to the GLPI server. Are there alternatives to these two ways? E.g. other Agents? FI has some issues which makes it not well suited for us and the project doesn't seem to be actively developed right now.
I would like to have an "agent" based setup. I.e. the inventorization should be done locally on the host and the data should be pushed/uploaded to the GLPI server from the host. A server-initiated inventorization is not well suited for our environment and our workflows.
I am grateful for any suggestions

...I found some "glpi-agent" mentioned in a FusionInventory forum, but searching for this agent in the GLPI documentation on readthedocs (glpi-install.readthedocs.io and glpi-user-documentation.readthedocs.io [sorry, I am not allowed to post complete links :-((]) didn't return any hit. There is also no agent included in the GLPI download

Thank you for the hint. I know OCS, but I don't want to run a full inventory system in parallel with GLPI. I basically only need the agent part. Can the OCS agent be used separately to feed data directly (not via OCSng) into GLPI? I haven't found instructions on how to do this, but this could be a possible solution.

To my knowledge, there are only three possibilities:
- Fusioninventory (plugin)
- OCS (separate application requiring its own server)
- manually

Hi drosera,
about GLPI Agent, I'm working on the doc at the moment, see: https://glpi-agent.readthedocs.io/
There's a GLPI Agent http server plugin still not documented named Inventory. I'm actually working on its documentation. The purpose is to run the inventory only when a trusted computer asks for it. Could it be what you need ?

wow! it will include a deploy tasks too or we will need to continue to use fusioninventory?

At the moment, Deploy task still needs the agent can contact the FI4G plugin by itself. The agent Inventory Server Plugin is not concerned. But GLPI Agent is supporting Deploy task as FusionInventory agent does.
