Automatic Asset Assignment With OCS

Hi there.  I was just curious if there was a way to automatically assign imported computers from ocs to their respective user.  OCS automatically assigns based on last logged on user and I was wondering if it was possible to pass this information through to GLPI.

If this is possible, would I be able to display the User's display name instead of the user id on assets? We have allready imported our users through LDAP.

Thanks!

I am using GLPI with LDAP/Active Directory integration. I have imported all my users from Active Directory. The user is automatically assigned to the Computer in GLPI.

Re: Automatic Asset Assignment With OCS

THe problem I am having is that users logins are different than their names, so at first glance its difficult to determine whos machine it is.

Example:  Users name is Troy Aikman -  network login is HS2141.

OCS applies the last logged on user as the owner of the machine, so OCS says the user is HS2141.  Is there a way to have GLPI cross reference network login to user name so it displays their actual name and not the "HS2141"?

Use the same login for the domain and in GLPI.

Re: Automatic Asset Assignment With OCS

I apologize maybe I was not clear.

Lets say someone has a network login of HS1234.  THeir real name is Bill Smith.

In OCS, it shows the user as HS1234 because that was the user logged on at the time of the inventory.  GLPI lists the user as NOBODY.  When I look in the user list, HS1234 does not exist, only the name Bill Smith.

So my question is, is there a way to make glpi know that HS1234 and Bill Smith are the same user and automatically assign the asset to Bill Smith instead of looking for his logon name of HS1234?

no you cannot,
or you need to develop your own plugin to manage this, the way you want

Ok.  So just for quick clarification:  GLPI only associates computers imported from OCS according ONLY to the network login, and theres no way to Associate the real name tied to the network login to the asset automatically.
